Winter can be a bummer to fish sometimes. You usually have to wear more layers, there isn't any wet wading unless you are nuts, the bug hatches can be sparse, and the sun sets a little sooner than we like. BUT there are some real big pros to Winter fishing.
The biggest pro you is the solitude. How fun is it to drive for 1-2 hours only to find the spot that you had mindfished the whole way there is crowded with people fishing? This does not happen in the Winter time. Especially if you backpack in, you will have the whole river to yourself and the piece and tranquility that goes along with it.
